Ricky Rubio

Rubio’s availability will certainly grab the attention of many around the league. If the Timberwolves were to call the Bucks to enquire about Plumlee, considering that Zach Lowe has reported that the Bucks “remain unconvinced that Michael Carter-Williams, coming off the bench again, is the long-term answer”, it’s likely that they might enquire as to whether Rubio could be worked into a larger deal.

Many are suggesting that Minnesota’s faith in Slam Dunk Contest champion Zach LaVine is rising rapidly, and they believe it could be possible for him to slot in at point guard longer term. As a result, Rubio and his $12 million contract has become quickly expendable.

In terms of the Spaniard’s fit with the Bucks his inability to shoot understandably brings up immediate red flags, but there may still be a chance that the pros outweigh the cons with him.

Rubio is an outstanding passer, and one of the league’s more effortless playmakers. Getting the ball to the Bucks young players would be a lot easier with a creator of his caliber

On top of that, Rubio is a tenacious and high IQ defender who would offer a significant upgrade from MCW. Rubio averages 3.6 steals per game along with a defensive rating of 104 per Basketball-Reference, which is impressive considering how poor the T-Wolves teams he has been a part of have been.

To match salaries the Bucks would probably have to send MCW with Plumlee and another piece, but who knows, if the Bucks wanted it, maybe a deal could be worked out.
