Kevin Martin

Back before the Bucks playoff hopes became something of a lost cause, we floated the possibility of the Bucks taking a look at Martin.

There’s no doubting that age has impacted the once sharp-shooting wing unkindly, and that Martin’s prime is in the rear view window.

I’d say it’s probably very unlikely that a team will go out of their way to sign Martin at the deadline, but if Minnesota are desperate to shed his contract for next season, he could certainly find his way out as a part of a bigger deal.

If the Bucks were forced to take on Martin’s contract as a part of a bigger deal, it certainly wouldn’t be a cause for excitement, but I don’t think it would be the end of the world either. Martin’s contract will expire in the summer of 2017 and at $7 million his contract is less of a hit than what the Bucks took on O.J. Mayo this year.

For a guy who’s still shooting 37 percent from deep this season, if the Bucks got Martin as part of a deal which saw them take back a meaningful asset, there could be little complaints about holding his contract as a role player for just one full season.
