Milwaukee Bucks Player of the Week Rankings
1. ???
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo
3. Michael Carter-Williams

Now that I have your attention…

Antetokounmpo played in both games this week and averaged 38.3 minutes, 18.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. He was second on the Bucks in points and rebounds, third in assists, and tied for fourth in blocks.

The traditional and advanced stats support the notion that Giannis made an impact on both sides of the court in the past two games. He had the third lowest defensive rating and the fourth highest offensive rating on the team, with 92.1 and 97.2 respectively. The highlights support the notion too.

Great Greek Freak defense.

Great Greak Freak offense.

Giannis gave the Bucks a points-rebounds double-double in both games this week. He scored a little better than he usually does and he rebounded significantly better than normal. He bumped up his rebounding numbers by dominating the defensive glass. Antetokounmpo collected over 26 percent of the available defensive rebounds when he was in the game.

His passing was solid this week too. Typically he averages 2.8 assists per game but he bumped that up somewhat to 3.5 this week. When Giannis is scoring effectively, dominating the glass, and playing excellent defense he makes a significant impact. When you add a decent passing game to those things his impact increases noticeably.

Giannis once again was hampered by mistakes this week. He fouled out of the Bucks victory against the Hawks before overtime began and he committed a good amount of turnovers. These issues did not take away from what he did do. When you look at his overall performance it is easy to see how he earned his spot in the Milwaukee Bucks player of the week rankings.
