Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Bench

Michael Carter-Williams

10 Points | 4-12 FG | 2-3 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK |

Not his most efficient night in terms of shooting, but he had no turnovers, and coming off the bench his output was pretty solid. If we’re going to judge MCW for his ability to mesh in a strong backup role when he does come in off the bench, then it’s hard to ask too much more of him than what he gave in this one.

Greg Monroe

12 Points | 5-9 FG | 2-2 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK

Much like MCW before him, if Monroe’s role at the moment is to come in to be an active influence off the bench, this is what you’d ask for him to provide. A nice inside option, good rebounding and an option to change in style when he comes on the floor. Many might be finding this hard to stomach considering the joy of the signing in the summer, but right now, Milwaukee is a much better team with him in this role.

Rashad Vaughn, C

0 Points | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Vaughn didn’t make a shot, but is yet another player showing new wrinkles to his game over the past couple of weeks. Vaughn was pegged as a willing and capable passer from way back in Summer League, and four assists in 17 minutes against the Lakers continues to bolster that case.

Steve Novak

0 Points | 0-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

Novak was never going to be an influential figure in this game having just signed hours earlier. In fact, Kidd likely didn’t plan on getting his former teammate on the floor in this one, if not for the game being comfortably secured, and the home crowd itching to catch a look of one of their on the floor. Giannis at least knows to get him looks at threes, unfortunately in this case it just didn’t fall.

Johnny O’Bryant

0 Points | 0-0 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

It’s nice to at least know that Johnny O’Bryant is still alive. The way he has fallen completely out of the rotation, particularly during a period where Kidd has been forced to play others heavy minutes is certainly puzzling. Hopefully we’ll get to see some more of him soon.
