Jason Kidd, B-

  • This grade comes in two parts. The first is an unequivocal A+ for Kidd making the necessary adjustments to work out something that has clearly benefitted Parker and Antetokounmpo. That was a brave decision, one that many disagreed with at the time, and now through five games it’s one that looks to be paying dividends. Credit for making the move, further credit for continuing to stick with it.
  • The second part of this grade is not so positive. We all want Giannis to get triple-doubles, and of course his first one was always going to be important, but in a game that was won you can’t leave him out there to chase it for the guts of a full quarter. Giannis has been logging heavy minutes as is, sure the team now has a couple of days off, but some rest may not have done him any harm. It’s the job of the coach to make the unpopular decisions, and this is a case where Kidd probably should have stepped up. Thankfully it ended up with a trouble-double and not an unnecessary injury to a fatigued player.
