Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

O.J. Mayo

, D+

0 Points | 0-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

I can’t imagine Mayo staying in the starting lineup for much longer given his recent play. He had more turnovers that points, or field goal attempts, and had a third quarter meltdown which resulted in a technical foul. Perhaps, get ready for it, starting Rashad Vaughn in his place is a better option?

Khris Middleton, A+

30 Points| 7-11 FG | 15-15 FT | 2 REB | 4 AST | 5 STL | 1 BLK |

Most impressive about Middleton’s performance was that he made it to the line 15 times and converted each one of those tries. It sounds silly, but with Giannis and Jabari jumping out of the gym, Middleton’s 30 was pretty quiet. That is, except for a first quarter off-balance three at the end of the shot clock. Splash. Err, I mean Kha$h.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, A+

18 Points | 7-12 FG | 4-11 FT | 17 REB | 11 AST | 4 STL | 2 BLK |

During the off-season I mused that a 2013 redraft would either have Giannis or Orlando’s Oladipo going in the top spot. Six months later there’s no doubt that Giannis is by far the best player from the 2013 class. And to think–he’s just coming into his own. Two triple doubles in a week? Crazy. I don’t care who they came against. Those long-range pull up twos that he drilled Monday night would be good against anyone.

Jabari Parker

36 Points | 16-25 FG | 3-3 FT | 4 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK

Feast your eyes, Bucks fans. Jabari Parker gave us all a glimpse into the future and in doing so reminded everyone that the future is bright in Cream City. He did everything: hit jumpers (including a three), crossed over Patrick Beverley, and made the usual strong cuts. But what really made my eyes well up is his late second quarter off-the-glass assist to Giannis. The fact that he was more interested in making a play for Giannis over himself, on a career night no less, shows you the type of chemistry this young team is developing.

Miles Plumlee

9 Points| 4-8 FG | 1-2 FT | 8 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK |

Remember when everyone thought that Plumlee minutes were just to expose him to potential trade partners? Yeah…about that. Plumlee continues to show that he’s a great fit for the young core. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty on tough rebounds either, pulling in five offensive rebounds against the Rockets.
