Reactions: The Good

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, and Khris Middleton each produced another strong stat line. Though we salivate for Giannis triple doubles or highlight reel dunks from Parker, none of that happened Wednesday night. In fact it seemed that each of the big three were a little bit off–like the playground basketball rim that seems angled just a little to the left. But at the end of the game there they were, each right in their wheelhouse for production. That’s as good a sign as any.
  • Let’s not forget about Moose. With the Bucks down ten to start the fourth he went to work on Jordan Hill. He scored the Bucks first 11 points of the final period, forcing Frank Vogel to take out Hill and replace him with Mahinmi. Moose’s production tapered off from that point, but it’s always important to remember the Bucks have a very strong, consistent option in Monroe. Here he is slipping behind the Pacers defense for the easy two.
  • The Bucks did a much better job protecting the basketball against the Pacers than the Rockets. They turned it over just 12 times to the Pacers 14. The Bucks also out-paced the Pacers (I know, sorry), beating them in fast break points to the tune of 22-12. The Bucks were also very good from the stripe–hitting 28-32, or 87.5%. These are all clear signs of improvement over recent outings.
  • Point Giannis didn’t have the statement game he did against the Rockets. But he did show some off some of his ball-handling acumen in this coast to coast lay-in. Sorta reminds you of Kobe, no? He nearly turned the former Arizona Wildcat Chase Budinger into road kill, too. I have no love for Chase. No love for the University of Arizona. And definitely no love for road kill. Well done, Giannis.
  • Jabari Parker doing defensive things is a song that makes me want to roll my windows down and cruise.
