Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Jerryd Bayless

, B+

12 Points | 3-6 FG | 4-4 FT | 4 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 2 BLK |

Friday was a solid night from Bayless all around as he did a bit of everything. His two three-pointers were welcome, as always, as were his blocks. His tally of two rejections was two more than Monroe or Plumlee managed on this occasion. Bayless was matched up against Jeff Teague and did a good job of guarding him. The Hawks guard only got in a rhythm when he was faced up with Ennis.

Khris Middleton, C

10 Points| 4-14 FG | 2-2 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |

The more casual basketball fan certainly would not have expected for Middleton to be shut down by Kyle Korver, but that’s exactly what happened. Korver kept him in close order as the Hawks managed to deny him and limit his influence, and even when the veteran went to the bench, Thabo Sefolosha offered little respite for Middleton. The Bucks generally aren’t successful unless he’s at the center of what they do, and that rang true again in this one.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, C+

11 Points | 5-14 FG | 1-2 FT | 7 REB | 4 AST | 1 STL | 3 BLK |

Another player who found himself limited in comparison to his usual activity due to the Hawks stifling defense. With Atlanta one of the league’s best teams when it comes to isolating, denying and trapping point guards, this was always going to be a challenge for Point Giannis. He didn’t dominate by any means, but poor shooting night aside, he held his own. Nights like that will continue to be important as he grows more comfortable in his new role.

Jabari Parker

, B+

19 Points | 8-18 FG | 3-6 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK

Jabari was a breath of fresh air, and the only disappointment would have to be that as has often been the case this season, he was unable to follow up a fast start with a second half to match. 10 points in the first six minutes when his teammates were struggling prevented the Bucks from finding themselves in a big hole from the get-go, and the good news is his jumper is looking sweeter with every passing game.

Greg Monroe, D-

7 Points| 2-7 FG | 3-6 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

This is not what Greg Monroe was signed for. Atlanta’s front court may be one of the league’s most versatile, but they’re not the most imposing. It’s the sort of matchup you would have hoped Monroe could make an impact on, but the likelihood of that has grown greatly reduced in recent weeks. Seven points just isn’t good enough, but only three rebounds is a problem. John Henson’s stellar play when he came in did not reflect well on Moose.
