Reactions: The Good

  • With Khris Middleton unavailable Giannis and Jabari took full control of the offense. Giannis scored 16 points in the first quarter, Parker dropped in eight, and between them they combined for every single Bucks point scored in the first period. Please allow me a moment to contain my giddiness when that pair plays to a draw (24-24) in any quarter against a desperate rival team. This isn’t like them dominating against the Suns. This was a Bulls team with every reason to lock down on the Bucks two premier players and for the first quarter and couldn’t stop them from getting back into the game in the third.
  • I’m no lover of Pau Gasol. This is mostly why. He annoys me. So when Giannis physically dominates him like on this dunk it brings palpable joy to my heart.
  • Your unsung hero of the night is one Johnny O’Bryant. After sitting the entire first half he started the second in place of Damien Inglis and was partly responsible the Bucks second half surge. Check out this JOB line. Four points (on 2-2 shooting), five rebounds (three offensive), an assist, a steal, and a block all while going +11 in 21 minutes.
  • Tyler Ennis has shown all sorts of growth in the last two weeks. He had eight assists and four rebounds and looked pretty good up until late in the fourth quarter. He did turn it over four times, but I’ll accept those if it means monster smashes like this one from Miles Plumlee
  • Jabari Parker was 3-8 from jumpers 15 feet or more. Why is that such a good thing? Well, he made three–and the fact that he’s taking eight jumpers a game really speaks to how confident he’s becoming as a key player. He hit a big pull-up from the foul line late in the fourth quarter with the Bucks in desperate need of a basket. So yeah, Jabari jumpers excite me.
  • I liked Mike Dunleavey when he was on my team. I don’t like him now that he’s on another. Am I alone? Certainly not. Here’s Giannis blasting right by him despite Dunleavey giving Giannis a massive cushion. Dunleavey was helpless in his attempt to defend Giannis.
