Milwaukee Bucks Player of the Week Rankings

  1. ???
  2. ???
  3. Miles Plumlee

Plumlord played in all three games this week and averaged 21.5 minutes, 10.7 points (on 52.0 percent shooting), 6.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game. He was second on the Bucks in rebounds, third in points, and tied for third in steals. Additionally, he was tied for third on the Bucks in plus/minus with -6.0.

The third guy in this week’s player of the week rankings was tough to decipher. There were a lot of average to below average performances to sift through. I decided to go with Miles Plumlee because of a mix of his advanced stats and his averages per 36 minutes.

Miles had a defensive rating of 103.0, which was the best on the Bucks this week. Couple that with his good plus/minus, respective to his teammates, and you can see that he made an impact when he was on the court. The game went best for the Bucks, specifically on the defensive end, when Plumlee was in.

Plumlee made a significant impact on the games this week while not playing many minutes. He likely would have averaged a points-rebounds double-double had he been able to keep up his level of play while receiving more minutes per game. His per 36 minute averages of 17.9 points and 11.2 rebounds look much better than his raw stats. No one on the team averaged more rebounds per 36 than Miles.

Efficient scoring is the name of Plumlee’s game on offense. He helps his teammates pile up assists by finishing a plethora of easy dunks and transition plays every week. Between the easy dunks from teammates and his typical near hoop shot selection he is not missing many shots. When players miss very few shots the Bucks are happy!

Plumlee is a really good transition big man. He often gets out ahead of the defense on the fast break. When his teammates feed him the ball, while he is on the ground or in midair, he has fantastic hands and rarely drops the pass.

He did his job very well this week and, like in some recent weeks of the player of the week rankings, doing your job when your teammates struggle is enough to get you into the top three.
