Milwaukee Bucks Player of the Week Rankings

  1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
  2. Jabari Parker
  3. Miles Plumlee

The Greek Freak played in all three games this week and averaged 36.3 minute, 27.7 points (on 61.5 percent shooting from the field and 70 percent shooting from three), 8.7 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. He led the Bucks in points, rebounds, and assists, and was tied for third on the team with steals.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was amazing this week. Offensively, it was probably the best week of his career. He was both the main scoring option and the lead facilitator for the Bucks.

Scoring-wise Giannis was on fire. He shot over 60 percent from the field on just over 17 shot attempts per game. He was not just shooting near the hoop either. He made a staggering 65.2 percent of his shots from outside of 20 feet. Along with that he made exactly 70 percent of his threes while shooting 3.3 per game.

Since he shot so well away from the hoop, especially from three-point territory, it opened up the entire floor for him offensively. When the floor opens up for an NBA player they are going to score very effectively.

Even though Giannis was an absolute marksman this week, he still was most difficult for opponents to deal with in transition. When Antetokounmpo gets a full head of steam he is truly unstoppable. Here are a few examples of the Greek Freak putting fear into the heart of the fast break defense:

Against the Celtics

Against the Cavs

Giannis was not just a great scorer this week, he was a fantastic distributor. He led the Bucks in assists once again. And it is not just the amount of assists that are impressive. It is the kinds of passes we see Giannis make on a regular basis now. These are legit passes that only the better point guards in the league can execute.

Across the entire NBA, over the past three games, Giannis is third in points per game and seventh in assists per game. In fact, only Steph Curry and Damien Lillard have done what Giannis has done by scoring at least 20 points and dishing out at least 8 assists per game in their past three games. That is pretty good company for the Greek Freak to be in.

Antetokounmpo’s scoring and passing would have been more than enough to earn him the number one spot in the player of the week rankings. However, Giannis decided to do more things then just pass and shoot. He rebounded pretty well too.

He led the Bucks in rebounding by a healthy margin this week. He did it by dominating the defensive glass. Giannis led the Bucks in defensive rebounding percentage. While he was on the court he gobbled up over 31 percent of the available defensive rebounds.

This week Antetokounmpo did what has become normal for him since the All-Star break. He was the best scorer, rebounder, and passer. The Bucks three losses this week should not be blamed on Giannis. He was everything his team needed him to be and then some. The Greek Freak went way above and beyond the duties of his job this week and that is why he is the Milwaukee Bucks player of the week.
