BTBP Staff Awards: Milwaukee Bucks Most Disappointing Player
By Adam McGee
O.J. Mayo
Season Stats: 7.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.2 blocks, 37.1% FG, 32.1% 3PT, 77.5% FT, ORTG 101.1, DRTG 102.3, NetRTG -1.2
The Lowdown: With the departures of Jared Dudley, Zaza Pachulia and Ersan Ilyasova, the Bucks were always going to need O.J. Mayo more than ever this season. We should probably have all known that that wasn’t going to be the best recipe for success.
After showing some brief glimpses of light early in the year, Mayo was ultimately worse than could have been imagined though. His shooting was horrible across the floor, he was injured more often than not, and instead of providing a calming influence to the young players around him, he was often the one to lose his head.
Why They Voted For O.J.:
Jordan Treske (@JordanTreske): Unfortunately, the list for most disappointing Bucks player this season is longer than I would have imagined.
For what his role was and what he meant to a young Bucks team that was suddenly without key veterans, O.J. Mayo’s season has to be the biggest disappointment by far though.
He struggled with injuries, struggled with his shot and at times, struggled to keep his temper in check. Some of that is good to have on a team, but when you aren’t producing on a nightly basis, it’s hard to overlook and choose to ignore it anymore.
