Plumlee’s Game of the Season

After a triumphant victory against the then 24-1 Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks headed out West for a four game road trip, with the biggest highlight being a rematch between the two teams just six days later.

While a war of words were had (mostly on Golden State’s side) in the buildup to the game, the Bucks didn’t start the trip well for many reasons.

In a matter of 24 hours, the Bucks were shellacked by the lowly Los Angeles Lakers, made headlines for an off-the-court incident thanks to TMZ and struggled to put up a fight against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Those events didn’t spark a lot of optimism from Bucks fans before the big showdown against the Warriors that was set for December 18.

However, the Bucks came out swinging once it came down to business and at least for the first three quarters, it looked like the Bucks were in the driver’s seat to take another unexpected victory away from the defending champions (at one point, the Bucks led by 15 points against the Warriors).

Although the Bucks went on to lose that game, Plumlee ended up being a key contributor that night (13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks), especially considering Monroe was dealing with a knee sprain at the time.

It might not have been his best game statistically, but Plumlee’s effort that night helped put the Bucks to put their best foot forward against an all-time great team in the Warriors and was arguably a catalyst for his expanded role later in the season.
