Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins Worth Trading For?
By Dan Larsen
Why The Trade Could Make Sense
As explained, the trade makes sense for the Kings because Parker possesses upside that few other young players in the NBA. Someone like Miami could offer Justise Winslow or the Lakers could offer DeAngelo Russell, both of which are supremely talented players. However, Parker presents better upside and polish than either of them, though Russell certainly comes close.
The future first rounder would give the Kings an additional asset to use to rebuild. There would be no guarantee of the pick ending up very high in the draft, but the top three protection only, could be enough for the Kings to pull the trigger.
Monroe’s contract also presents some value. The Kings could either flip Monroe to a third team as part of the deal, or keep him for a few months until the trade deadline when they could then move him. Monroe has trade value, and it’s likely Monroe could net them an additional first round pick or player if they found the right suitor.
From Milwaukee’s perspective, they’d be getting a man who possesses the best skill set of any center in the NBA. Getting Cousins would improve the offense and give them an established superstar player who could complement Antetokounmpo and Middleton nicely.
Cousins is a superior scorer, and his attitude to dominate games would be a nice complement as well as his ability o pass and stretch the floor.
He’d also fit in more naturally on the defensive end. He can play respectable defense, and is certainly an upgrade on that end in comparison to Monroe. Having him would enable Antetokounmpo and Middleton to rotate positions based on match-up, and give the Bucks some flexibility when constructing the roster.
A big three of Antetokounmpo, Middleton, and Cousins would also make for a formidable big three, possessing perennial title contender potential if the Bucks made the trade.
