Evan Turner

He has developed into something of a punchline for NBA fans since being selected second overall back in 2010, but make no mistake, Evan Turner is a talented basketball player.

He’s not going to live up to the type of expectations that a player drafted as highly as he was is often measured by, but that shouldn’t disparage his reputation to the point where people ignore what he can do.

As he has shown under Brad Stevens tutelage in Boston, with the right coach and in the right system, Turner can do a lot of good.

With good size and great comfort with the ball in his hand, Turner can appear as a somewhat natural fit at times across positions one through three. Coming off of Boston’s bench he proved that this year, with averages of 10.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

In Milwaukee’s case, Turner could be an interesting bench addition as he could play a point forward role in the second unit that resembles the style of Giannis’ play with the starters. Even at a much lower level than what Antetokounmpo brings to the table, having someone like Turner bring a similar style into the mix in a bench capacity could help to build greater cohesion across the roster.
