Bismack Biyombo

Bismack Biyombo was one of the biggest bargains of last year’s free agency, and the only mistake the Toronto Raptors made was not tying him down on a longer deal.

Biyombo’s consistent play throughout the season had already earned him a pay rise heading into the summer, but Biyombo’s contributions on Toronto’s way to the Eastern Conference Finals made him a lot richer.

Although Biyombo’s 26 rebound showing against the Cavaliers grabbed all the headlines, Biyombo has rebounded and blocked shots at a high level throughout the year, on top of showing impressive finishing skills in tight to the basket.

With reports suggesting that Biyombo could be looking at a deal as lucrative as $17 million next month, there’s a real possibility that he’s set to go from most underpaid to most overpaid in the space of 12 months.

Biyombo is good enough to be an NBA starting center, but considering how limited his offensive capabilities are that kind of price represents a big risk. His play style would be perfectly suited to the Bucks, but his price means he likely won’t be an option.
