Deyonta Davis

Forward/Center – 6’10”

Interviewed with the Bucks in Chicago at the Draft Combine on 5/12/16

Worked out for the Bucks in Milwaukee on 6/20/16

Highly touted forward Deyonta Davis made the trip to Milwaukee on Monday, and followed in the footsteps of his former teammate Denzel Valentine, along with Henry Ellenson and Jakob Poeltl in becoming the Bucks fourth individual workout.

Davis had an impressive season under the guidance of Tom Izzo with Michigan State, but still has plenty of room to improve. In many ways that’s the greatest appeal behind him for NBA teams.

Davis’ position in the NBA would seem pretty fluid at  present, but he has the tools that mean he could slot in at center if he bulked up, or if he honed in his shooting touch he could be just as likely to become a stretch four.

Davis is very athletic and has good length, two factors that obviously play as significant factors in his rim protecting potential. With a nice mix of skills on both ends of the floor, it’s easy to understand the intrigue surrounding the 19-year-old.

With question marks of their own in the front court, could Davis be Milwaukee’s man come draft night? He’s certainly in the mix.

Notes

Davis was the biggest man who the Bucks met with on day one of the Draft Combine, and could potentially be an option to provide some more depth for the team at the power forward spot or eventually as a small ball center.

Davis spoke in his interviews about having some skills that he didn’t get to show in college, that he’s continuing to hone in the lead up to the draft:

"I can shoot the three, but they didn’t give me the chance to show it. But we’re working on my ball-handling."

Overall, Davis’ message was simple for any teams interested in his service, he just wants to play and get better:

"I’m a kid, I want to play basketball and hopefully stay in the league for a long time and work for my second contract."
