Milwaukee Bucks: Grading The (Potential) Matthew Dellavedova Deal
Cons
Of course, there’s the other side of the spectrum and when it comes to Dellavedova’s weaknesses, the most glaring may be his physical traits.
While Dellavedova does his best to overcome his physical limitations, his subpar athleticism shines through when matched up against guards who are more physically gifted than him (which honestly might be the majority of point guards in the league).
That obviously limits what Dellavedova can do on both ends of the floor and largely speaks to how defined of a role he’s carved out since entering the league.
While Dellavedova primarily plays as a point guard, he’s hardly viewed as a model for what the point guard position has evolved to in today’s NBA.
That isn’t to say Dellavedova lacks essential point guard skills as he’s a willing passer and often makes safe and solid decisions (Dellavedova had a 2.91 assist-to-turnover ratio this season, per NBA.com/stats)
However, whether it’s creating his own shot efficiently or making his way to the paint, Dellavedova’s weaknesses will be what separates him from a solid depth option to a solid starter in the league.
