With all the point guard woes we’ve endured in recent years, the question of what an ideal Bucks point guard looks like has been a topic of debate for all Bucks fans.
The most common names that were thrown around were players like George Hill or Patrick Beverley, basically players that could deliver the shooting the Bucks sorely lacked, could play off the ball and could provide quality defense.
Dellavedova’s not in the class of those players, but he still checks those boxes the Bucks have needed to address for some time.
It’s unknown what his role would be for the team at this point, but at the bare minimum, Dellavedova is a solid depth option who provides some versatility and could eventually see plenty of time on the court as a spot starter.
The biggest thing to (possibly) watch for with Dellavedova is how he performs when he’s not playing alongside one of the best players in the league.
Giannis may have similar responsibilities to those attached to LeBron James‘ role with the Cavaliers, but that by no means equates that Dellavedova will have no trouble translating his role over to the Bucks.
Dellavedova, by himself, may not be the long-term starting solution for the Bucks. However, considering how the dynamic of the Bucks has drastically changed over the last year and a half, Dellavedova gives the Bucks a chance to find what they’ve long been looking for.
