Milwaukee Bucks Grades: Starters

Malcolm Brogdon, B+

14 Points | 7-14 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 4 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK |

Another extremely solid performance from the four year Virginia Cavalier. Brogdon looks completely at home, and is a steady and reliable presence on this team. Some nice passes added a flourish to a performance that saw him score more efficiently than against the Cavaliers, even if he wasn’t able to match his prolific rebounding from that opener.

Rashad Vaughn, A

24 Points| 10-18 FG | 1-1 FT | 6 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK |

After a horrid showing in the previous game, Vaughn bounced back in style on Sunday. This was the kind of performance that not only Bucks fans but the player himself was hoping to provide at this year’s Summer League, as he looked supremely confident in orchestrating the majority of his team’s offense. His shooting was about as good as it’s been in all of his time as a Buck and his playmaking was impressive too.

Terran Petteway, C-

5 Points | 2-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 3 STL | 1 BLK |

After a very impressive opener, this was a disappointing off night for Petteway. He provided great effort but just couldn’t really get the game to run his way. Making 1-5 from three-point range isn’t good enough, but Petteway’s three steals are proof that he was still scrapping and competing on every play.

Thon Maker, A

17 Points | 7-15 FG | 2-4 FT | 17 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK

Maker’s debut in a Bucks jersey surprised almost everyone, but following an even better performance against the D-League Select maybe we can no longer be surprised. As I touched on earlier we did catch our first real glimpse of Maker’s biggest area of weakness at present, but that still doesn’t overshadow a game in which he had another colossal double-double, knocked down a three-pointer and added more highlight reel blocks. The Thon Maker experience has been a lot of fun so far, and long may that continue.

Joshua Smith, C+

5 Points| 1-3 FG | 3-4 FT | 9 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK |

A much more active and improved all around performance from Smith saw him back up Maker in seizing complete command of the boards. He’s not spectacular by any means but Smith is a solid performer who acts as a nice complement for Maker in the frontcourt, particularly considering the respective strength of the two.
