The Greek Freak is a Match for No Man

It goes without saying that it has become harder than ever for teams around the league to match up with the unique size and skill of Giannis Antetkounmpo, but still most teams seem to at least have some option to try to slow him down. It turns out the Bulls are not most teams.

If you could all see the USA Today gallery of photos which I chose from for the pictures in this piece, you’d get a sense of just how desperate and disorganized Chicago was when it came to guarding the Greek Freak.

If you can pick out the common thread between players such as Dwyane Wade, Doug McDermott, Taj Gibson, Cristiano Felicio and Paul Zipser (all of whom were photographed guarding Giannis), you’ve got me beat on this one.

It resulted in Antetokounmpo finding time and space, over and over again.

And it also led to opportunities for Giannis to create for teammates:

In short, for as good as Giannis now is, the Bulls made it easy for him.

Thankfully for the Bucks, we’ve moved far beyond a point where Giannis lets teams get away with that.
