Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Win Over New York Knicks

Moose Putting His Team In A Position To Win
The headlines go to Giannis, but there’s a valid argument to be made for Greg Monroe having won this game for the Bucks.
He sparked his team into life in the fourth, as in the opening seconds of the final period he came up with a statement rejection of the kind that has never really been associated with Monroe.
Not long after that, he embarked on his own 6-0 run to bring the Bucks right back to within one possession of the Knicks’ lead. Assists came from Malcolm Brogdon on two of those three baskets, but the pair had started their own show even earlier with a Monroe steal and beautiful interchange of passing in the third quarter.
In Malcolm Brogdon, Monroe has found his perfect match. Both players have skills that are occasionally reminiscent of a bygone era, yet as we’ve found out in recent weeks, it’s very difficult to stop them in tandem.
It’s hard not to be happy for Moose, too. After a tumultuous first season in Milwaukee, he’s bounced back like a consummate professional, and shown what appear to be new wrinkles to his game. Even more importantly than that, Monroe finds himself on a good team on the rise.
Two games above .500 may not seem like a big deal for most players, but that’s unfamiliar territory for Monroe. Having experienced a lot of losing in his early NBA career, Moose came to Milwaukee as he wanted a taste of the playoffs. It didn’t turn out that way last year, but if he can continue his current play, there’s every chance it will this season.
