Milwaukee Bucks Game Preview: Jan. 15 at Atlanta Hawks
By Ti Windisch
Player To Watch: Dennis Schroder
The Milwaukee Bucks should’ve won the last time these teams played each other. Even without Giannis playing all that well, the Bucks had a huge lead and all seemed good. Until Dennis Schroder decided to go off.
Schroder ended that game with 33 points, more than anybody else on either team. Many of those buckets came in the second half, when Schroder essentially willed the Hawks to victory. He’s having a great season besides that one game, showing that Atlanta was right to trust him to be the starting point guard.
Since getting that job full-time this season, Schroder has averaged 17.4 points, 6.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game. Schroder moves at blazing speed all the time, and although that can lead to mistakes it can also lead to massive comebacks.
In addition to being the Hawks second-best scorer and leading assist man, Schroder is one of few capable shooters left in Atlanta. Schroder takes 3.6 threes per game, and makes 35.9 of them. If Malcom Brogdon and Matthew Dellavedova can force Schorder into mistakes, the Bucks will have a much better shot on Sunday.
