The Battle On The Boards

If there was one deciding factor in how the game shook out last night, it’d have to be the disparity in how the two teams performed on the glass.

All night long, the Heat regularly bruised their way down low to come away with rebounds on both sides of the floor, winning the rebounding battle 48-34. The driving force behind that was Hassan Whiteside as he turned in a double-double performance, scoring 23 points and hauling in 16 rebounds in his 34 minutes of play.

The duo of Bucks big men, comprised of Greg Monroe and John Henson, struggled to limit the Heat for control on the glass, with Henson in particular, looking overmatched whenever he was going against Whiteside.

Without a doubt, where the Bucks were hurt the most was on second chance points as the Heat scored 23 second chance points on 14 offensive rebounds last night. Conversely, the Bucks scored four second chance points on just five offensive rebounds.

Unfortunately, performances like this on the glass have become the new norm for the Bucks in their losing ways over the last month and expecting it to change anytime soon may be wishful thinking at this point.
