Reluctant to Deal

Mirza Teletovic, Matthew Dellavedova, Tony Snell

It’s at this point that the waters likely get a little murkier for the Bucks. There’s no reason to say that the Bucks categorically wouldn’t trade these players, it just wouldn’t necessarily seem to be in their best interest to do so.

Starting with Tony Snell, who may be the simplest of the three to gauge in this category, the Bucks have found a player who has shown the ability to plug in and provide a serviceable contribution as a spot starter, and long term would make for a strong rotational piece in shoring up wing depth. Although Snell is set to hit free agency this summer, the Bucks will hold the rights to match any deals that come his way. Based on his play in Milwaukee so far, you’d have to expect the Bucks to be looking to retain him.

Dellavedova and Teletovic fall into this category under entirely different circumstances. Both acquired as notable free agent additions last summer, Dellavedova and Teletovic represent excellent theoretical fits alongside other key components of Milwaukee’s roster, but haven’t delivered quite to the level that would have been expected of them just yet.

Still, both Delly and Telly are locked in on reasonable contracts for the next three and two seasons respectively, and even without their best play shining through individually this season, have shown the benefits of their play style when coupled with Milwaukee’s most talented players.

In short, trading any of these three guys would likely leave the Bucks looking for others who could fit the same kind of theoretical purpose in the very near future.
