1999-00 – Ray Allen (Third Placed)

The Bucks returned to the Three-Point shootout in 2000 with the first of three appearances for Ray Allen while playing with the team.

Allen was a good shooter, but as an explosive young guard at the time, it’s interesting how he was perceived. All you have to do is listen to how he’s spoken about by the commentators in the video above. They think of Allen as a dunker (having previously appeared in the dunk contest) in the company of shooters.

In the contest itself, Allen showed that he was much more than a great athlete who fancied himself as a shooter. Allen’s 16 point first round was only topped by Jeff Hornacek and Dirk Nowitzki, meaning that trio progressed to the final.

None of the three managed to produce their best in the final round, but Allen’s 10 points was the low mark of the bunch. Allen would have to settle for third as Jeff Hornacek took home the trophy.
