If a Derrick Rose/Tom Thibodeau reunion does come to pass at the deadline, it won’t be the first reunion that Thibs has reportedly considered in recent days.

According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Timberwolves coach remains an admirer of Bucks wing Tony Snell and at least held some interest in making a move for the former New Mexico Lobo.

"“Minnesota has expressed a tepid interest in Tony Snell, who played under Tom Thibodeau in Chicago, sources say.”"

Snell’s low salary of only $2.3 million would make a deal challenging between the two teams in the present, without being a part of a bigger transaction (likely including Rubio). Still, this interest in Snell could become noteworthy in a few months from now, and that remains part of the reason why there could be motivation for a team to move for Snell before the deadline.

With the versatile wing scheduled to hit restricted free agency this summer, whichever team holds his rights after the deadline will have the upper hand in trying to re-sign. If Snell stays with the Bucks beyond Thursday, which seems likely, Milwaukee will have the option to match offers on the 25-year-old in the summer. In that scenario, they should anticipate an offer sheet from the Timberwolves too.
