Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Loss To Utah Jazz
By Ti Windisch
Giannis And Beasley Forever
Now that we’ve talked about the bad stuff, let’s take a quick second to look at positive things from Friday night. There were exactly two of them, and their names were Giannis Antetokounmpo and Michael Beasley.
Milwaukee’s starting forwards were nearly unstoppable for most of their minutes against Utah. Beasley dropped 22 points on 17 shots, while the Greek Freak added 33 points on just 16 shots. Giannis and Beas weren’t randomly hitting threes or anything–they just sliced through the Jazz and got to the rim over, and over, and over again.
It’s always fun to watch Giannis, but there’s some innate joy in watching Beasley go off. He takes these shots that seem ill-advised, but his touch around the basket is exceptional. He can release from anywhere within a few feet of the rim, going in any direction, and Beasley finds a way to get the bucket.
There’s value in having a player who simply gets buckets like Beas does. Pace and space are important, but sometimes things break down and there’s no more time to set up a play or make a few more passes.
That’s when someone like Beasley comes in handy. It would’ve been Giannis against the world without him on Friday.
