Giannis Carries

Giannis Antetokounmpo needed every bit of his efforts to lead the Bucks to this Sunday afternoon win. The big man finished the game with 28 points, shooting 11-13 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line. He added eight rebounds, six assists, one steal, and two blocks.

As you may be able to guess based on his shooting numbers, Giannis spent the majority of the game attacking the Suns in the paint, finishing with many, many dunks. It took a while for Phoenix to adjust to the Greek Freak down low. But when they did, Giannis started hitting his teammates in stride for open looks.

He went to halftime with just one assist. The Freak really started moving the ball well in the second half, hitting open cutters and spot up shooters alike. Specifically, Giannis worked really well with Malcolm Brogdon to move the ball around the perimeter, opening up some lanes that isolation basketball just hasn’t opened.

Jason Kidd sat Antetokounmpo down the stretch in hopes of saving his legs for the Cavaliers matchup on Monday. The team saw it’s lead drop to one point, only for Giannis to return and help seal the deal with excellent ball movement. The Suns brought extra help to keep Giannis out of the lane, so he hit a cutting Brogdon, who pivoted to swing the ball out to Tony Snell for the dagger.
