Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Win Over Phoenix Suns
By Reid Mueller
Brogdon’s Big Night
The rookie point guard played one of his best games of the season, tallying 15 points, seven assists, two steals, and two turnovers. He did so efficiently, shooting 6-9 from the field, 1-3 from three, and 2-2 from the line.
He played the role of floor general excellently against the Suns. The pick-and-roll offense was smooth, as well as his jab-steps to create the same level of space. He uses the jab-step to get his defender to back off for an open shot, or he sizes them up to go around them with his quick first step.
Brogdon was a few blown open layups away from hitting double digits in assists. The rookie seemed to be hitting his teammates in the perfect spot all game long. When Brogdon gets into a groove, he has the mental capabilities to make the opponent pay. He was just seeing the floor on another level.
He looks equally productive playing with both the starters and bench at this point in the season. The rest of the season is now his to make the case that he can start for this team next season, as the expectations rise.
