Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Loss To Denver Nuggets
By Adam McGee
Delly’s Signs Of Life
There has been no Buck more guilty of under-performing in recent weeks than point guard Matthew Dellavedova. Signed with great expectations of how he’d mesh with the rest of Milwaukee’s core, the Australian has come up short on delivering contributions similar to those he made in Cleveland.
Having averaged only 4.9 points and 4.8 assists on 32.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range in 11 games during February, Dellavedova started March with a dramatically improved showing coming off the bench.
Delly had 15 points and four assists on 7-9 from the field against the Nuggets, and managed to score his points by turning to a lot of the weapons that had been letting him down of late.
Dellavedova’s runner had become a cause of great contempt among Milwaukee’s fans, but against Denver, it was falling much like it used to during his time with the Cavs. Beyond that, his shots from mid-range and beyond the three-point line also fell more reliably than they have been.
The problems for Delly of late must certainly include a drop in confidence. The hope will be that Wednesday’s showing should start the climb back to the mean for his contributions, and maybe freed from the pressures of starting that could prove to be the case.
