Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Win Over Los Angeles Clippers

Delly’s Bench Resurgence Continues
Matthew Dellavedova continued in a bench role for the second straight game, in spite of a strong performance against the Nuggets on Wednesday. Unlike in his spell on the bench earlier in the season, the early signs suggest that Delly can be effective in that role this time around.
Dellavedova shot the ball efficiently against Los Angeles, as well as orchestrating the offense in a way that hasn’t been a regular feature of his play throughout the season.
The Australian finished the game with a final stat line of 15 points and eight assists, with only three turnovers to counter those positives, and a strong shooting performance of 6-9 from the field.
To top that off, Dellavedova’s plus/minus of +24 was only bettered by Jason Terry on the night.
Aside from the kind of tangible statistical contributions that have been missing from Dellavedova performances in recent months, the 26-year-old also showed the trademark energy that he has become associated with. That helped the Bucks defensively to remain stable when the Clippers made runs in the second half.
Having led the team with 36 minutes in total, now the challenge for Dellavedova will be to make it three straight positive performances. Against a Toronto team that’s currently depleted at the point guard position, he’ll have every opportunity.
