Player To Watch: Dario Saric

Malcolm Brogdon’s main Rookie of the Year competition now that Embiid is less likely to win because of his mere 31 games played, Dario Saric has gone off in the time since Embiid went down for the season a few weeks back.

In February, Saric averaged 17.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 12 contests. Thus far through three games in March he’s averaging 16.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists. It took Saric a few months to get used to the NBA game, but now he’s hitting a stride at this level.

If Giannis Antetokounmpo is Saric’s cover on defense, this should be a fascinating game to watch. Seeing a pair of young, talented European players go head-to-head as the best players on their respective team would be a blast for fans of both clubs.

Saric is dangerous because he can shoot and he can move the ball a bit. He’s a clutch player as well, as seen in his deciding block of Pau Gasol in the 2016 Olympics.

The Sixers faithful would need Saric to be outstanding in order for their team to get the win, though. Even with his strong play in the last two months, Philly was 4-8 in Feburary and currently sits at 1-2 in March.
