Major Key For Memphis: Rely On The Big Two

In a rare occurrence, the major key for the opposing team is the same for two consecutive games. That’s because the Memphis Grizzlies, like the Minnesota Timberwolves, have a perimeter player/big man combination they rely on.

Where the Wolves have Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, the Grizzlies have Conley and Gasol. In Memphis’ most recent loss, the Grizzlies didn’t have a shot because neither of the two played particularly well.

Conley posted 16 points on one-for-seven three-point shooting, while Gasol scored just eight points despite attempting 11 shots. The two combined for 24 points on 23 shots, which just won’t get the job done for Memphis.

It was a pity, because JaMychal Green went off in that game against the Atlanta Hawks. Green dropped 20 points on 12 shots. Memphis still lost by 17. That’s just how things will go for the Grizzlies when Conley and Gasol are off of their game.
