Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways From Loss To Memphis Grizzlies
By Adam McGee
Giannis’ Minutes Too…Low?
It’s tough to complain about this as it’s so often an issue that we see at the other extreme, but it’s hard not to note the bizarrely low minutes total for the Greek Freak on Monday.
Averaging 35.5 minutes per game on the season, Giannis only played 28 minutes in Memphis. Although first quarter foul trouble gave cause for limiting Antetokounmpo’s run early on, after two fouls by the midway point of the first, he’d only have one more for the remainder of the game.
When Antetokounmpo was on the court he caused the Grizzlies a host of problems, and with no real like-for-like forward matchup, would have seemed like the Bucks’ best bet to pull their way back into the game.
Antetokounmpo frequently overmatched his opponents in terms of strength and athleticism, most notably with a couple of first quarter and-ones.
Giannis finished with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, and is guaranteed to be fresh for a national TV showdown with the Clippers on Wednesday.
