Back On Track

It would only have been natural for the Bucks to have sat in the locker room after Monday’s 20-point loss in Memphis and wonder what the schedule had in store for them now.

Having put in so much hard work to roll off six straight wins and claw their way back into playoff contention, that defeat to the Grizzlies could have been a body blow with matchups against the Clippers and Warriors in their next three.

What Wednesday proved is that the resilience and focus that has been evident in-game of late applies to the greater attitude the Bucks are carrying with them at the moment too. The goal shifted from running off wins to proving that this team was about more than one good run, and a win in the Staples Center backed that up.

Although the grind of being on the road could yet take its toll, the Bucks are now well-positioned to go .500 on their trip, or possibly even better. Wins over NBA cellar dwellers such as the Lakers and Kings would ensure at least an even trip, and as such, the focus has to be about consistent effort regardless of opponents.

That has been a problem for the Bucks at times throughout the year, but if they can solve it in the coming days and weeks, not only will they make the playoffs, but they could even cause a scare or two at that juncture.
