Major Key For Portland: Also, Play Some Defense

The Bucks offense has not been high-powered this season. Milwaukee has scored 120 or more points six times all season. Comparatively, Portland has hit that mark 13 times already. The Blazers sometimes just wear teams out with all of their scoring.

That means the Trail Blazers don’t need to be an excellent defensive team to win. They just need to be good enough. In these last 13 games Portland is allowing teams to score 107.6 points per 100 possessions.

That’s a bad defensive mark, but when the Trail Blazers are scoring 111.4 points per 100 possessions over the same stretch it doesn’t really matter. The Blazers don’t need to hold Milwaukee to 80 points, but if they keep the Bucks around 100 it will be hard for Milwaukee to find a way to win against this offense.

Portland’s offensive showing will likely be the deciding factor here, but even if the Bucks play strong defense they’ll still need a good amount of points to beat the Blazers. This team is built to score, and that’s just what they’ll do.
