It Was Russell’s Night

The Milwaukee Bucks did not matter in the grand scheme of things on Tuesday night. Russell Westbrook was one triple-double away from tying Oscar Robertson for the single-season record coming into the game.

Westbrook got his triple-double fairly early in the third quarter, and the stadium erupted accordingly. With the game already completely out of hand at that point, the OKC fans had nothing to stop them from enjoying the moment.

Honestly, it was enjoyable even for Bucks fans. The game was obviously going to be a loss by halftime, so there was no worrying about wins or losses by the time Russ accrued his record-tying triple-double. Despite anybody’s feelings about Westbrook, there’s no denying that history was made on Tuesday night.

The cool part about Westbrook getting his 41st triple-double against Milwaukee is it means the Bucks are tied to both triple-double masters. Robertson obviously played for Milwaukee back in the 70s, and now Westbrook ties The Big O’s record with the Bucks in the building.
