Conclusion

Middleton should be able to win his individual matchup, as he should be able to win most matchups.

If the four days off did him any good, he’ll be able to consistently attack off the dribble for the first time in a couple of weeks. This will give him the ability to score on Carroll.

Middleton will be able to slash his way into the lane, opening up easy looks for his teammates. The more he gets to the lane, the better chance he has at being open as the ball comes to him on the ball reversal.

Defensively, so long as he doesn’t fall asleep, he should be able to contain his single digit scoring adversary. Even so, it’ll be difficult for him to rest on the defensive end. The Raptors have strong wide bodied post players who the Bucks will need to help down on throughout the series.

Middleton is the superior player, but is also asked to do a lot more for his team than his counterpart. If Carroll can wear him down, even if he loses the individual match up, the Raptors have a great chance at winning the game.
