Post Ups

Although posting up big men is going the way of the dinosaur and the isolation look, the Milwaukee Bucks are actually pretty good in the post. The Bucks get 0.93 points per possession from post ups, better than all but six NBA teams.

Ever the scoring machine, Michael Beasley leads all Bucks in post up efficiency, generating 1.11 points per possession from the post. Mirza Teletovic gets as many points per possession, although he hardly ever posts up compared to Beasley.

Jabari and Giannis are up next, scoring 1.04 and 0.93 points per possession in post ups respectively. Next up is John Henson, followed finally by Greg Monroe, who posts up far more than any other Buck despite coming in sixth with 0.90 points per possession scored from the post.

Despite Monroe being a positive presence for the Bucks, his ability to score from the post isn’t actually all that efficient. Milwaukee would be better served to run pick and rolls through the Moose than to post him up–Monroe scores 1.23 points per possession as the roll man in PNR, which is among the top 12 percent of NBA players.
