Strengths

George Hill is a consistent, capable producer. In his season with Utah, he averaged 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Hill saw more opportunity to shoot than he did with the Indiana Pacers, and he made the most of those chances.

For the second straight season Hill made 40 percent of his triples, knocking down 40.3 percent of them this past season, to be specific. Along with his 52.3 percent conversion rate from two-point range and his free throw percentage of 80.1, it’s safe to say Hill is an efficient scorer.

He’s an efficient passer, too. Putting up 4.1 assists per game isn’t a ton, but with just 1.7 turnovers per game as well Hill kept that assist-to-turnover ratio over 2. It makes sense that he’d not put up tons of assists, with Hayward using a significant chunk of offensive possessions as well.

Unlike many of the other free agents we’ve profiled so far here at the site, Hill is also a capable defender. He didn’t anchor Utah’s fantastic defense–that honor goes to Rudy Gobert–but he’s a savvy defender who is going to do a good job at holding his man night in and night out.
