NBA Free Agency 2017 Player Profile: C.J. Miles

Weaknesses
Miles can defend wing players and will even guard fours at times, although that can become problematic due to his size. He does have fairly long arms that help to counteract his height disadvantage against taller players somewhat, though.
One of the more frustrating weaknesses in Miles’ game is his lack of consistency. Not all 10 point per game scorers are created equal–some almost always score around 10, while some are streakier.
Miles was more likely to score below 10 points in a game than he was to hit double-digits last season, and he had four games where he played at least nine minutes and didn’t score at all, compared to six games where he hit 20 points. Sometimes Miles will come through with a big game, but other times he’s not going to hit more than a shot or two.
On those night when his shots aren’t falling, Miles isn’t going to add too much besides capable defense. His rebounding is pretty good, but at just 0.6 assists per game Miles isn’t adding a ton to an offense if he’s not hitting threes. He also doesn’t generate many turnovers, which doesn’t mean he isn’t a good defender, but it’s always beneficial when a player can grab extra possessions for his team.
