Fit in Milwaukee

The Bucks needed shooting this offseason (and last, and the one before that, and the one before that…well, you get the idea. Milwaukee needs shooters.) and they get a knockdown guy in Sterling Brown. With his potential as a 3-and-D wing with great size, he fits the mold of a prototypical Bucks wing. For evidence, look at the success of Khris Middleton and Tony Snell.

If Brown’s game is able to translate to the NBA well, he should be a rotation player for the Bucks because of his ability to play both wing positions. He also opens up the idea of letting Tony Snell walk this summer. Yes, Tony Snell is better than Brown now and fits in Milwaukee well. However, if Snell is going to offered upwards of $12-million per year this summer, the front office will need to decide if he is worth that.

Knowing that there is a safety valve in Brown in case Snell gets a massive offer sheet is a great asset to have for the sake of the rest of the offseason.

Brown will give Giannis Antetokounmpo another option to pass to on the perimeter, and all of a sudden, the Bucks have a fair amount of shooters. Specifically with Malcolm Brogdon, Khris Middleton, and Brown on the roster, those are three guys who should be capable of shooting around 40% from deep.

Then, considering the possibility of Snell returning and the idea of Mirza Teletovic or Matthew Dellavedova getting back to their form before arriving in Milwaukee, the Bucks could be a deadly shooting team centered around Giannis next season.

In total, Sterling Brown brings more than just shooting to the Bucks, as his defense will help secure some weaknesses on the wings. As also mentioned, he is a solid option as a second round safety blanket in case Tony Snell receives an offer that Milwaukee does not want to match this offseason.
