Brooklyn Nets

As previously mentioned, the Brooklyn Nets are not new to this game. The Nets’ primo asset in the Russell trade was cap space, an asset that’s become increasingly valuable in the NBA these days.

Even after eating Mozgov’s deal, Brooklyn has max level cap space available. The Nets could eat up John Henson or Mirza Teletovic‘s ugly contracts pretty easily, but they’re not likely to do so without extorting a young player or draft pick from the Bucks.

Brooklyn has no need of Henson now that the Nets are already paying Mozgov, and Teletovic is honestly not better than Trevor Booker at this point. Still, for a future first round pick the Nets would likely absorb one of those two anyway.

By sending back Justin Hamilton, who is making $3 million this coming season, the ESPN Trade Machine has Brooklyn being able to take either Henson or Teletovic. That’s the kind of deal that would buy Milwaukee some needed relief, but again, at a cost. The Nets are an option, but Sean Marks is too smart to take on an ugly deal without getting something in return.
