Sterling is shining

Sterling Brown, the Bucks’ second-round draft pick, has put together a really nice Las Vegas Summer League run thus far. Every Bucks starter ended the night with a plus/minus in the negative besides Brown, who was plus-one.

Brown posted 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and no turnovers in 26 minutes played. He shot a poor five-for-12 from the field, but aside from Travis Trice no Buck managed to hit more than half of their field goals. It just was not a night for making shots in Vegas, apparently.

As Mike Prada pointed out in the above tweet, Brown definitely carries himself like a collegiate veteran. He spent four years at SMU, and the extra experience has carried over to Summer League, where Brown has put himself in good spots and been remarkably solid.

For the second straight NBA Draft, the Bucks have taken a NCAA senior who projected to have a high floor. Could this be a new market deficiency in the NBA that Milwaukee is first to take advantage of? In the rush to add talented 19-year-olds who might be something in five years, 22-24-year-olds are slipping through the cracks, and the Bucks couldn’t be happier about it.
