Zimmerman’s Moment

Stephen Zimmerman was a late addition to the Bucks Summer League squad after the Orlando Magic released him earlier this month. Zimmerman hadn’t been impressive since the Bucks signed him, and he clearly didn’t impress Orlando all that much either.

Still, he had a pretty good game on Friday. He started and played 21 minutes, the most among all Bucks. Tim Kempton did not play at all for some reason, leaving Zimmerman as the lone true center option.

In that increased role, Zimmerman scored 12 points on six attempted shots, making him a leading scorer. He only made three of those field goal attempts, but making six of eight free throws helped boost the big guy’s point total against the Jazz.

Zimmerman also added six rebounds, two steals, one block and two turnovers. Those are solid-enough numbers, but looking like a role player against this level of competition is not a great sign for a guy who really needed to impress on this stage. Also, the Jazz killed the Bucks on the boards, another not-great sign for Zimmerman.
