Small Forward

This is really where things start to get ugly. The Milwaukee Bucks have one player who’s primarily a small forward, now that Giannis Antetokounmpo has slid to the four in Jabari Parker‘s absence: Khris Middleton.

He’s obviously getting the lion’s share of the playing time here. Hopefully his conditioning is back to form after his hasty return to the lineup last season, because the Bucks will need him to play quite often.

Snell or Giannis could play at the three, but they’re already needed at other positions. The Bucks will likely have to go small and play three guards together when Middleton sits, so some guards will be listed here to fill in gaps.

  1. Middleton – 34 mpg
  2. Some weird mix of Snell, Giannis, Brown, Vaughn, and D.J. Wilson – 14 combined mpg

Seriously, it’s difficult to get a read on this. Without a true backup at the three, the Bucks will have to go either big or small to figure things out. Sterling Brown, if he ends up being NBA-ready anywhere as fast as Brogdon was, might end up a spot small forward in Milwaukee. The same could be said for Vaughn, if he does grow into a real role player this season.
