Power Forward

Going from small forward to power forward in the Bucks rotation is like going from you to the guy she tells you not to worry about. Only Khris Middleton holds down the three spot right now, while there’s an entire cast of characters at the four.

Giannis is the top dog here, but joining him are D.J. Wilson and Mirza Teletovic, and, eventually, Jabari Parker. According to various ESPN graphics, John Henson, Spencer Hawes, and Thon Maker also play the four, but anybody who watches the Bucks knows better than to hope for Henson or Hawes on the floor at all, much less at a forward spot.

The rotation here is pretty simple, though, as it tends to be when a franchise player is playing at a spot.

  1. Giannis – 36 minutes per game
  2. Teletovic/Wilson – 12 minutes per game

It’s hard to tell right now who wins out of Teletovic and Wilson for the backup power forward minutes. Teletovic is a minus defender and poses no threat on either end when his threes aren’t falling, while Wilson is a bean-pole who’s entirely untested at the NBA level.

Smart money is on Wilson taking a while to get meaningful minutes because he’s so young, and Teletovic getting run here to start. Things will really get interesting when Jabari Parker returns, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.
