Giannis Antetokounmpo and Malcolm Brogdon take home NBA awards

The Milwaukee Bucks had a very good showing at the inaugural NBA Awards Show.

Giannis Antetokoummpo won the Most Improved Player Award, as he beat out Nikola Jokic and Rudy Gobert. Giannis was the clear cut choice for this award, and it would have been particularly surprising if he hadn’t been rewarded with this accolade. The Greek had an historic season last year, hitting a number of milestones that had never previous been achieved in NBA history.

Malcolm Brogdon also came away with an award, as he won Rookie of the Year. As a rookie, Brogdon was a steadying presence for Milwaukee all year. He played an important role on a playoff team, and voters decided to reward him for that. Brogdon won the award over two 76ers players, Joel Embiid and Dario Saric.

Antetokounmpo was also selected to the All-NBA Second Team and All-Defensive Second Team, and Brogdon was unanimously chosen to the All-Rookie First Team. These were big accomplishments for Giannis and Malcolm individually, and also for the Bucks as a team.

They were arguably the highlight of the Bucks’ offseason as these awards further emphasized just how bright the future is for the franchise.
