Awards and Verdict

MVP – Ray Allen

Defensive Player – Andrew Bogut

Best Rookie – Brandon Jennings

All Bucks 1st Team – Brandon Jennings, Ray Allen, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Glenn Robinson, Andrew Bogut

The 00-01 Bucks side are clearly Milwaukee’s best team since the turn of the century. The class of the Big Three (Cassell, Allen and Robinson) shone through and the results speak for themselves. That team is still the only Bucks team of this century to win a playoff series, let alone make it all the way to the Conference Finals.

As for the 09-10 team, well they will go down in history as a “what could have been story”. All the promise in the world, but injuries struck down their chances of going any further.

To the current Milwaukee Bucks side, this is a valuable exercise to show where they’re at, at this point in time and how far they have to go.

Giannis is an absolute monster of a basketball player and as witnessed for much of this past season, he can win games on his own at times. However, he needs help and there lies the problem currently plaguing the Milwaukee Bucks.

They have a bona fide superstar who desperately needs help against elite teams. Yes, he will win you a game by himself, but he won’t win a title by himself. Whether it be Jabari Parker returning to health and offering a scoring punch, or Thon Maker making the leap to the next level.
